Stories of Sanctuary
The Common Sanctuary sessions and one-on-one calls with Matt were life-giving for me as I continue my journey of acceptance while staying in a mixed-orientation marriage. They created space for real friendships where I could process, learn, and feel supported and known. This journey is not easy, but I can breathe more now and move forward with greater peace.
As I’ve moved and traveled between three countries over the past few years, all while trying to figure out my evolving faith, the LGBTQ+ Contemplative Spirituality group has given me a home, a sense of community, and lifelong friends.
For several years, Matt has served as my spiritual director, accompanying me with deep listening and discerning questions. His presence and guidance have shaped some of the most significant spiritual growth and insight of my life.
Common Sanctuary’s online groups provided a spiritual safe space for me immediately after coming out as bisexual and losing connection with my childhood church. It was an absolute lifeline during a tumultuous time, and I’m still connected to friends I made there years later.
